This is actually an example of something worthy, IMO.

Forgiving a 7 billion dollar debt is significant, even if it is the UAE.

Dunno, Bruce.  On the one hand, it’s a very kind gesture.

On the other hand, it’s just going to mean more money they can spend to fund barbarism.  Free them from tyranny, only to find that they prefer it, in one form or another.

If you can’t hope to educate them, absolutely nothing can be done to ease the suffering there.  Their preferred form of government is a hell-on-earth.  Only modernity can marginalize the faith-centric drain they circle, as it has managed to somewhat push-back Christianity’s ability to bully in the West.  There’s a lot of work yet to do on that front, but it is plain to see the difference scientific advancement has made here, but not there.

If we (in the West) could free ourselves from oil dependency tomorrow, Wednesday, I think that might be the most just outcome imaginable.

Suddenly, their stinking sand kingdoms bottom out in value.

Then they can either get with the program (modernity and civilization, education, diplomacy that doesn’t involve be-headings and repression), or they can just go back to fishing and shitting in the Tigress and Euphrates.
