You’re automatically assuming I’m supporting Berlinkski. I’m not taking a position on euthanasia either.
Then you wouldn’t have said the following in post #1 of this thread: “This was some time ago, over a decade, so just what is the deal in Holland, and other European countries? Are there other “slippery slopes” we aren’t hearing about?”
To state legalised euthanasia as practised in Europe is a “slippery slope” and that there may be others, is to imply that it is inferior to, and has “gone downhill” from, an as yet unidentified higher standard. To label something as being on a slippery slope is making a value judgement, and so yours is not an unbiased position and can be rightly interpreted as being in support of Berlinski - your latest ambiguous protestations about assumptions notwithstanding.
Being out of one’s depth, and the urgent commencement of dog paddling comes to mind for some strange reason.
You might point out to your friends who have had healing miracles, especially after their fervent prayer and entreaties to god, that virtually all amputees also pray to god for healing BUT HAVE NEVER BEEN KNOWN TO GET A RESPONSE OUT OF THE BASTARD!
I believe that things such as miracles can and do occur. They are too many cases to disregard all of them as bogus. As to why God does not heal amputees, isn’t it obvious? A direct, verifiable act of magic would be renowned the world over. It provide proof positive the miracles DO occur.
Cats don’t talk. But they very much understand their own names, and those of their owners. My mother heard the “voice” in her mind saying her name, so the cat was not “talking.” Talking involves the vocal chords. For lack of a better term, I would call this some sort of psychic communication, assuming this was really and truely contact with a departed “spirit.” She described the voice as sounding “sweet and feminine” (the cat was female.)
I use the term “otherwise” becasue things like this do indeed seem rather farical. But they happen nontheless…
Tad talks to dead people, too. Or maybe just cats. And there’s more:
The bottom line is that if you try to make a coherent picture out of the positions TTG has taken on various subjects in this forum, “credible witness” is not the term you will end up applying. Caution: Genius at work!

Oh, please. Don’t make me more anxious than I already am. I know about doctors and the DEA, but I thought things had eased up a bit due to the unconcern of my Kaiser PCP.
But what’s the deal with the Kaiser doctors, then? They are willing to write prescriptions for narcotics out the wazoo. Does the HMO offer an umbrella of protection, or what?
I might have to rejoin Kaiser on my own dime, just to get the drugs. Or REMARRY my ex-husband, if they won’t have me due to ‘a pre-existing condition’.
I really don’t have a good answer for you. I have heard many anecdotal complaints. Physicians are the most obsessive group of worriers I have ever met. If you have a good PCP, try to stay with her. The DEA does monitor physicians closely. In the past, some doctors have given scheduled drugs without careful scrutiny and patients have suffered. If you check the Board of Medical Examiners web site, you’ll see that a lot of practitioners lose their licenses for indiscriminate use of narcotics. Thus, doctors worry. Have you tried a physiatrist/pain management specialist? They typically get less scrutiny due to the fact that pain management is all they do.

Why do science fiction and fantasy reasders so often believe that the stories are actually a sort of journalism? It’s not very kind to the writers, if you think about it.
I love Kaiser Permanente. They refill perscriptions online and mail my drugs to my rural residence. Doesn’t get any better than that!
I know, it sucks to have to leave AGAIN. They have their faults, but the best thing is that everything’s taken care of in one spot. Now I have to find my own doctor for everything. And will Barack Obama’s touted plan help me? NO

Gosh, I don’t expect you or anyone to have an answer. Actually, from what you’ve said, I may be on the right track now because my latest referral is to a pain management specialist, and when I called and got the answering machine they have one extension for people who want regular refills, and one for patients who need “paper prescriptions”, e.g. the dread triplicate copy, which take 7 days. So this guy does write the strong stuff; I only need to convince him that I need it. Which should not be a problem.
I know doctors have problems with the DEA, for sure. I still can’t figure out why the Kaiser ones are so blithe about it, though.
Thanks for your good wishes. Things should be okay in the end; it’s just that time is of the essence and I’m not hearing from this new MD yet. But the orthopod is going to fax over all his info once it gets back from dictation and I hope that will get things rolling. They won’t ignore him even if they ignore me.
Jefe, I’ve already looked up some Internet sources, and you say they don’t work. I haven’t found anything about he current state of these cases. But does this help?
Tad’s rigorously rational intellectual position on many issues is renowned far and wide in this forum
SC’s rigorously intellectual postions are reowned far and wide on this forum as well. If you can call spewing explititvess like “fuckwit” and “fucktard” a postion. In fact, much of SC’s writing doesn’t dusplay much more intellectual capacity than typical restroom grafitti.

One more thing. The above passage says nothing to show that Jill Stanek was wrong about these infants not recieveing care. So whether they were viable or not, something was wrong somewhere. Obama said he had “confidence” that the caregivere would do their job, based on laws already existing, but his condifence appears misplaced. I agree that is not right to require doctors to care for infants who have zero chance of survival, but apparently at least some non-viable infants DO have a chance of survival, some I would guess have a good chance, and were not being afforded adequet protection under the old laws.
Here I was, about to lose my patience with someone who has had this whole issue patiently explained to him THREE times and more, and now has the temerity to assert that there is “nothing to show that Jill Stanek was wrong.” I was about to list a long string of reasons why no rational person would lose a moments sleep over anything Jill Stanek said, when I suddenly realized Tad has absolutely no interest in reality; he just wants to keep talking about abortion.
Why?
Then I started to put the clues together.
The creepy avatar of a little boy.
The username “Tad,” a diminuitive name for a little boy.
An apparently unhealthy obsession with abortion.
Who, I asked myself, is obsessed with abortion and little boys?
Tad, I see that you are either an FBI agent or a producer for “To Catch a Predator,” and in either case you are trolling for pedophile priests.
That’s a laudable pursuit, but you aren’t likely to find any on this site, and even if they are here, I’m afraid I’ve just alerted them to your true identity.
So why don’t you just move along, and good luck with your trolling.
Tadster specializes in having things explained to him three (or sometimes even twelve) times and then pretending he doesn’t understand. GDon is like that, too. Trolls. Silly, silly trolls.

Um….sorry I’ve been a way since my computer crashed. That link was to some general informnation about euthanasia in Holland, not about whether it’s out of control or not.
Oops. Looks like the Tadster is rebooting. In even months, it’s about abortion. In odd months, euthanasia.

The avatar and username are of a Stephen King character, moron. Oh, not you Salt. I wa talking to the original poster of this mess. But you’re still a moron.
