Can anyone imagine how much methane was in the atmosphere when those, no doubt farty, dinosaurs roamed the earth? Perhaps their gases contributed to their demise… say a bronto farted during a fire started by a volcanic eruption… I imagine that would make a pretty big boom.
As for the cows…. maybe the ranchers could implement a little “Beano” into their diet.
If (or is it when?) the earth’s sun starts dimming, our descendants might want some of those greenhouse gases to keep the planet warm for awhile longer…
That was the problem with the 60 million or so Bison as well, you couldn’t light a match on the plains without fear of an explosion. But we fixed that.
Is methane lighter than ‘fresh air’? Some state-of-the-art landfills, covered with tarpaulins, are capturing methane and using it to generate electricity etc. As long as cattle are confined to feedlots, (instead of being allowed to roam in green pastures) why not have giant, funnel shaped roofs (like a vent over a stove) that captures all the farts and belches and converts them into TV shows?
Instead of contributing to global warming, the cows become green middlemen in the conversion of corn into energy. Instead of a poster saying, THIS BUS POWERED BY CATTLEFARTS, a euphemism like BOVINALL could be used. THE NEW MERCEDES ECOTOUR - POWERED BY BOVINALL!
