Following the same logic, can we say;

Christianity is objectively less likely to be true than Judaism because Christianity is just Judaism plus some more stupid ideas (heaven, hell, Satan, virgin birth, end of the world, etc).

Good point GAD. They get more stupid as we go along because every sectarian group has to add their own flavor.

Personally I like the Heavens Gate cult. Self castration and hitching a ride on a comet. Pretty cool stuff there!

I wonder why the castration; so as to not be tempted by the alien babes or as a sign of respect to the alien males….........

Unfortunately, many of the “rather stupid ideas,” such as, ‘if you’re good enough, you too will get to be a god of your own planet’ and ‘man as god will get to select several wives to fuck in order to make the spirit children for this planet’ appeals to many a man…  to the covertly misogynistic, megalomaniacal, over-sexed, solipsist sort, that is.

However, not all of the ideas found in mo-ism are stupid. For example, loving and caring for one’s spouse and children is paramount… too bad they muck it up by giving their kids a false sense of superiority, guilt, shame and fear in the process.

I would not think that that train of thought is unique to Mormonism surely.

Homo Habilis probably believed in that. smile

I would have joined years ago if you did not have to marry them all and have kids.

And have kids with the kids. And your kids. And your wives kids. And your wives sisters kids, which happen to be your kids already.

Other than all of that, sure, I’ll take my own planet when I die, and wear the funky underwear.

What happens if a Mormon goes commando?

Moroni

Is that plural for moron?

tongue rolleye

It always made me wonder why Smith would claim to be inspired by an angel with the word “moron” in his name.

Maybe Smith (like L. Ron Hubbard) was not deluded enough to believe his own nonsense. Perhaps Moroni was his subtle, ironic, bon mot.

True.

We can also say that Scientology is less likely to be true than Mormonism because Scientology is just Mormonism plus some rather stupid ideas.  LOL

I think it’s safe to assume that Smith never really believed his own bullshit.  The man was cleary one of the greatest con artists of all time.

And probably one of the most charismatic. It takes a special type of personality to attract that many followers.
