Of course he does. Obviously, the bronze-age tribesmen who wrote Genesis believed the earth was flat with the sun going around it. The stars were held up by a firmanent, and above that was heaven.
The literalist fundies deny that, so they can have their myth, but that is obviously the case.
I think it’s a joke; I may be wrong but I think that in a later episode they explain that he’s a friend of the RRS and it was a joke. Maybe not though.
