I hardly ever visit these pages anymore because the load times are so bloody slow. That’s even if they load at all. This site suffers from far and away the worst and most sluggish code on the entire Internet.

Now, me not visiting is something I’m sure you can all live with, but I wonder how many other debates and debaters you’re losing due to the interminable, irksome delays when trying to navigate the forums. Even worse is enduring the helpless wait to see whether one’s posts will be posted, not posted or posted three times in a row.

It’s ironic that one of the major voices for progressive, practical thinking has a site which would have been considered sluggish back when dial-up was new and edgy.

Dude, it is not the SH site. You just have too much porn on your computer and it is clogging your machine. grin

I agree with the delay in posting but other than that I have no problem at all.
Are you sure it isn’t your provider ? I got ATT U-verse and it works fine.

Don’t knock it- this forum is the best of any of them I’ve participated in . The subject matter far makes up for any slowness in manipulateing the style etc.

One of the things I like so much about it is that it seems to realize these subjects are all related . That’s something most people can’t understand. They might though if they found an instance where they could read about it . I have no complaints. I like this site and forum very much.

This forum hangs a lot. The only online environment I know of that’s anywhere near as problematic that way is MySpace. In the case of MySpace it’s a fucked up e-environment. In this case I suspect it’s the server. But yeah, this board frequently just decides to spin some poor hard drive somewhere round and round while accomplishing nothing while the user sits and waits, and often the thing just never stops spinning and you just have to reload.

But the content here is worth the slowness and choppiness, IMO. Not a big deal to me, personally, but then the way reality seems to work rarely bothers me—it can create obstacles and inconveniences, but that’s just the way it is, so that’s what we have to work with.
