I vote against the death penalty for three reasons (1) it is not a deterrent, (2) it costs more to carry it out, given the built-in appeals process, than life w/o parole; (3) there has been historically some instances of false convictions, and once carried out, it is difficult to reverse the penalty. None of these are for any “Sanctity of life” reasons as much as practicality.

Truth, especially “moral truth,” is that elusive human creation whose exclusive apprehension is claimed by many, who then sanctimoniously condemn anyone else who does not agree with their particular apprehension, while denying that any question can be posed about their own apprehension.
