Hey folks, here's video to our discussion with Richard Dawkins:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pbay-nPxxfI
Unedited, uncut.

Here is the full length radio show edited and in the format intended for airing, the audio on this is much better than the video on youtube: http://www.briansapient.com/media/dawkins/rrsShow38_64_flam.mp3

I detailed my thoughts on the day here:
http://www.rationalresponders.com/blog/sapient/20061103/richard_dawkins_visits_my_home
(including details on why the interview is more of a roundtable discussion than a probing Richard discussion)

One of my partners detailed his thoughts for the day here:

Welcome Sapient, good to have you here. Can the RRS promote Sam Harris a little more? I love all the Dawkins stuff, but Sam’s message has a little something extra to it. We do need the big three (Harris, Dawkins, Dennett) but I’d just like to see a week-long focus on Sam.

And yes, I am biased.

Thanks for dropping by!

Geez I’d love to.  We’ve done quite a bit for Sam, including pushing this campaign.   We were called on by Dawkins management to play a heavy role and will do all we can.  Sam hasn’t called on us nearly as much, and we’re here for him in everything he needs and wants.

He said his book isn’t promoted in bookstores, but I see it in the front isle of Barns and Noble, along with the Boulder Bookstore ‘round here.

The audio version of the Dawkins interview is much better. I couldn’t hear him on the YouTube version.

Mr. Dawkins did say that bookstores often place The God Delusion in the religion section. I find that interesting. Are bookstore managers trying to hide the book, or actually sticking it to those who frequent the religion section? smile

I’ve seen it in Current Events. Religion actually does seem like a sensible place, or possibly sociology. But it was also very prominently placed in the front of the store.

Bookstores are in it for the money, and his book has been climbing the charts. How shortsighted of them not to see it coming.
