I can’t update my avatar, all that happens is my current one reappears distorted to the dimensions of the one I’m trying to upload. I can remove the avatar, however.

I’ve had this problem meso, just delete your current avatar first, then choose/upload the new one (make sure it not too large a file), and then install it.  You do have to remove the current one first.  Hope this helps.

Another thing you can try is when you change your avatar and still see your old one, click the refresh button. I had to do that to get my new one to appear.
