Jeff Sharlet was a guest on Rachel Maddow’s MSNBC show yesterday talking about this book “The Family” which is based on his research into the U.S. Senate members who believe themselves to be above the law.  They are in an organized Christian condo, with those hypocrites who have had sexual affairs outside of their marriages.  Being Christians they have a new standard of morality.

I ordered the book from Amazon and will read it this weekend.  Has anyone here read the book or are interested in the conspiracy of sending our Christian Senators to other nations to explain our Christian government?

I’ve never been a militant Atheist but when our Senate groups together on tax-paid crusades to sell Jesus abroad, I feel a military fury with this plan.

“The Family” is more dangerous than I anticipated and discusses the covenant taken by “C” Street residents to spread the word of Jesus all over the world.  The Senators have introductions to all the heads of state and thay are taking full advantage of this.

This book explains the Bush Administration’s faith based grants and the influx of the Christian voters who had never before voted.

This book makes the Crusades look like a 4th of July parade.

More information on the “C” Street expose’  and it shows the need for legislation for the separation of church and state.

This is an exceptional article on the mess in our Senate.

I’m currently reading it and have about 60 pages left to read. Here’s a brief summary:

The beginning of the book chronicles how Sharlett got into The Family and what occurred at Ivanwald and The Ceders while he was there. The Family owns property, tax free, in or about Washington D.C. The houses are for young interns or college graduates who want to make Jesus their main focus in life. The utilize the power of Jesus in all decision making and ultimately change the world. It’s mostly a men’s club for religious freaks. Women can be found at The Ceders too, but in the capacity of serving meals while wearing lipstick and skirts (the required dress). All that political talk is for the men.

The middle of the book deals with The Family’s founder, a Norwegian immigrant named Abraham Vereide, or Abram for short. Abram’s history deals with the years of around the turn of the 20th century up to the mid 1960’s. We see how The Family’s meddling in foreign affairs led to a counter revolution against labor laws, environmental laws, and the welcoming of ex-nazi’s who turned their lives and wills over to Jesus. They fought against FDR’s new deal and reshaped the traditional charitable works for the poor form of Christianity into one that props men up for leadership in the world. And what does that leadership entail? Mainly the fight against communism, socialism, economic equality, secularism (that pesky establishment clause gets in their way), and anarchy.

Now I’m reading about today’s politicians that have drafted and legislated policy based on The Family’s values. I’ve read how Sam Brownback drafted a bill that fought against the slave trade that included proselytizing to it’s victims, and defunding medicines for prostitutes (we don’t want to enable promiscuity) and condoms. STD’s have spread considerable since the bill’s passing. He also puts capitalism above everything else, such as when he created the “Silk Road Act” that dropped sanctions against the Muslim dominated country of Azerbaiman. The reason for the sanction in the first place was it’s human rights abuses to neighboring Armenia, predominantly Christian. But that’s OK, because it’s what God wanted. He obeyed god, and that’s what it means to make Jesus the center of your life. You’re not supposed to question his authority.

I wish this was from a fictional novel, but it isn’t.

The book also examines the counter culture of “biblical capitalism” and one of it (former) most powerful proponents Ted Haggard. Biblical capitalism is the philosophy that the word of Jesus can be spread quicker and more viral when it’s mingled with free market economics.

The Family’s current leader is Doug Coe. He believes, and has stated in talks and sermons to his followers, that they need to be obedient like the SS guard was to Hitler, and like the red guard was to Chairman Mao. Total loyalty. And that’s what their motto—-Jesus plus nothing—-means. Forget the beautitudes, the Sermon on the Mount, the burning bush, the loaves and fishes, etc. Make Jesus the primary focus and you can change the world. Sin is not a concept they dwell on, for it only weakens one’s focus on the power of Jesus.

Has anyone on the TV had the smacking-clangers to suggest that this is a sort of terrorist cell and a threat to National Security?

It has been suggested that they are very influential in foreign affairs and policy. But The Family is entrenched in all government institutions, including the Pentagon and the Justice Department.

rab.  The members of the Senate who travel over the world to discuss Christian American ideals with the heads of state are breaking the law if only the Separation of Church and State could be enforced.

I was out of high school when “Under God” was added to the Pledge of Allegiance and I never took it seriously after that.  This deception of a conspiracy is horrendous.  This started after WW2 when the Birch Society began having their town hall meetings; scaring the shit out of believers and forcing them all to join the GOP.  They were ignored for several years until Bush 43 brought the Christians into his desire for world power under Jesus.

“The Family” has been ignored on just about every internet site I have posted the information and Americans are too apathetic to give a damn.  The world is now anti-American and who can blame them?  Christians have a history of bloody wars and causing terrorism to expand.  There is not much more I can do than try to get to the apathetic masses and I’m old, tired and running out of time.

I know exactly what you mean. Even on some liberal boards, of which I’m a member, I have to be careful about posting information that some would deem too anti-Christian or too hate-filled. I try to stress that this type of Christianity is a threat to liberty, civil rights, social justice, and economic stability. Too many of them want to reach across the aisle and sing Kum-by-a. Look where it’s gotten Barack Obama for example. His faith based initiative is more broad based than Bush’s but can he get the time of day with these social Christians who want to turn the country into a theocracy and change the constitution to fit their world view?

And it gets better. Did you hear about what happened over the weekend? Check this out
