What do you think motivated the Pope and the Catholic Church in general to cover up the sex abuse scandal?

Do you think it was simply embarrassment? Reputation?

Maybe they thought it would all go away if it was all swept under the rug.

Does this say something about how dangerous religion is itself? That its “squeky clean” image must come before the truth.

There is nothing squeaky clean about the image of the Catholic hierarchy unless you are a Catholic. A Catholic is merely avoiding reality in their worship of a cosmic dictator of some antiseptic corner of the universe. A Cathoilc corner.
