Why not? I think it was the founder of the ID movement, Philip E Johnson, who said in it’s current form that it was a ‘cultural’ movement.
A bunch of scientists and psuedoscientists/theologians pushing a propaganda machine. Sounds very ‘cult’ like and agendaish to me.
