Baudolino Eco, Umberto

Well, not so much ago there was a question made by Sam Harris at his facebook, about a white lie gone terribly bad. This book is about a great liar, but it also puts on the table the morality and consequences of lies. As Umberto Eco said in his great book “A Theory of Semiotics”, whatever can be used to say something can be used to lie. Or, if it cannot be used to lie, then it cannot be used to say anything either. So, a study of signs would be also a study of the elements that can be used to lie.

And also, it’s a great reading that pictures beautifully and vividly a period of european history.
