Dune Herbert, F. August 2, 2005

First off, Dune is one of the classics of science fiction.  Secondly, it’s well written without regard to genre.  Thirdly, it’s one of the first great novels expressing significant environmental themes and concerns.  Fourth, it’s simply a great story.

But, from the perspective of this list, Herbert’s treatment of religion is very interesting and complex.  There’s a lot going on here, and it’s worth thinking about.
