Gödel, Escher, Bach: An Eternal Golden Braid Hofstadter, D.R. Basic Books; 20 Anv edition (February 5, 1999)

One of the most thought-provoking books I have ever encountered, Gödel, Escher, Bach is an intellectual tour de force. Hofstadter seamlessly weaves his way through disparate fields to unveil an intriguing theory of consciousness. It is not necessary for the reader to agree with Hofstadter’s thesis to admire the shear beauty of this monumental work. One caveat: if you find it a light read, you are missing something. Ricercar.
