I Am Malala Yousafzai, M.

This is the story about a teenage girl who grew up in Swat Valley, Pakistan.  It is a beautiful region that unfortunately has come under the bullying of the Taliban and most of the residents are ethnic Pashtuns.  They are the second largest ethnic group in Pakistan.  Malala is an educated teenage girl who comes from a somewhat progressive family by Pakistani standards.  She was shot in the head by the Taliban in an effort to discourage girls from going to school.  Luckily, she recovered and has received asylum in the U.K. due to further threats on her life.  Her courage and determination to promote education amongst women in her country and culture would be best honored by reading this book.
