Philosophy and Social Hope Rorty, R. Penguin (Non-Classics) (January 1, 2000)

Rorty was a big influence on me at a certain point in my life, and this is a really good overview of a lot of his thought, emphasizing pieces for a more general audience (but no less useful for all that). Inclues the excellent essay “Religion as Conversation Stopper,” which addresses atheism and the Jeffersonian compromise. Lots to admire here, whether or not you buy Rorty’s line on everything.
