Summer for the Gods: The Scopes Trial and America’s Continuing Debate over Science and Religion Larsen, Edward Harvard University Press; First Edition edition (November 15, 1998)

Pulitzer prize winning account of the real story behind the Scopes trial.  Very different from the “popular” account.  The book gives an excellent perspective of Science vs. Fundamentalism and the personalities and forces that drove agendas. Both sides claimed victory in the long run with, ironically, Fundamentalism perhaps being brought back to the forefront after decades of indifference and unimpeded scientific discovery.
