The Body Never Lies: The Lingering Effects of Cruel Parenting Miller, Alice W. W. Norton & Company (August 17, 2006)
I could recommend almost all books by Alice Miller.
In a nutshell:
This particular publication presents her discovery in a very clear and simple way - what we are dealing with everywhere including ourselves, namely the lack of awareness how the cruelty in our upbringing (be it our parents, school, religion, authority figures, etc.) impacts the society we live in. And how the symptoms of that truth are stored and manifested in our bodies. In my opinion, this very much connects with Sam’s message and the ongoing onslaught he faces by the fanatical, blind forces, the product of such upbringing.
Our bodies are repositories of those early years experiences and that actually is also a positive thing, since it could serve us as a path to freedom from the bondage to repeat same horrors that were inflicted on us and others.
