The Post-American World Zakaria, F. W. W. Norton & Company (May 4, 2009)

In it, Mr. Zakaria discusses the changing global community. America is no longer the only game in town. We’ve coaxed or coerced other countries to play at capitalism, and many have now become formidable in their own right.

Although we have forsaken the manufacturing of good as a source of global trade, America still has a lot to contribute to the global economy.  However, if we refuse to acknowledge the changes that are in fact happening and choose rather to pretend that we can remain the “Top Dog” America of yesteryear, we will miss out on our opportunity to properly position ourselves.

Inasmuch as this book attempts to dismantle deeply cherished but hopelessly inaccurate sentiments, I recommend it to the site.
