The Republican War on Science Mooney, Chris Basic Books (August 29, 2006)

A extremely well-written book concerning how conservative politicians use “outlier” scientists to justify their party’s fundamental policies.  From finding “scientists” that oppose the use of condoms as protection against STDs to “experts” testifying that their data is sound data, even though no other scientist has been able to replicate it, this book has it all.  You will be left with a greater sense of why the lay public distrusts scientific evidence and its role in forming policy.
