The Truth Seeker Bradford, R. Prometheus Books (October 28, 2006)

This is an excellent biography of D.M. Bennett who was a publisher and free thinker in the 19th century.  The book contains the names, places and events of devoted individuals that were active in combating the social problems of the day; slavery, women’s suffrage, religion in politics and oppression by religion.  It has been a revelation to me that there have been so many individuals working (and being punished) for a long time to bring reason and wisdom to society.  I learned about the book on the American Humanist Association website.
