Unfamiliar Fishes Vowell, S.

Sarah Vowell has written a number of books about the history of the United States. With this one, she details the annexation and eventual statehood of Hawaii. I always enjoy her wry wit as that makes reading about history so much more fun.

The book chronicles the story of New England missionaries who came to the Hawaiian islands to convert the savages. With the usual intelligence she brings to such topics, you will experience history from her delicious humor.

If you’ve read her other books, two of my favorites being “The Wordy Shipmates” & “Assassination Vacation”, you know her special perspective on things. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did.
