Nhoj,

Thanks for all your hard work with the new layout.

Suggestion:
What about having the “The Trump Dump” topic under the “What’s New” category, along with “News Items”?
(Most of the Trump threads are serious.)

Thank you. I’m on needles and pins over the reaction.

I expected The Trump Dump to go over better. Of course the threads can be serious. Or not.
Please suggest another title if you don’t like it.

If it’s Trump related, it goes in the Trump forum. It’ll be huge. Tremendous. Sad.

Maybe, under “What’s New” category, titled “The Trump Presidency”?  Just a suggestion; others might have a better idea.

Thanks for the effort.  Hope that the more idiotic posts re WW-II and 911 will be assigned to some sort of fringe group.  Agree Trump, that may become huge.

World War II didn’t happen.

I’m stuck on Jan and EN’s concern and I’m missing something. Why couldn’t a trump thread be serious?

I think with the Trump topic listed under “The Forum Funway” with an amusing title, it may be seen to be intended for less than serious threads.  If it is moved up to the “What’s New” category and given a more serious topic heading (for example, The Trump Presidency), it would be seen more seriously (although I would expect less serious threads could also be posted under this heading).

AAh. Because the section says funway. I have FUN being serious. I never thought of them as mutually exclusive. Fair point then.

No one suggested they’re mutually exclusive, it’s just the general connotation of the term in this kind of context. A “fun park” clearly isn’t about debate or study or those kinds of fun things, for example (not sure the term isn’t antiquated out of usefulness though).

Yeah ... IMO, sounded too fun to be serious.  But other FUN people (like you) might see it differently.  BTW, the above were meant as suggestions, not a criticism.

Either is fine and welcome. I really want to hear about it. If it don’t fly, we’ll shoot it and try again.

Choosing a small number of sub-forums for a section dedicated to non-malarkey has been suggested here and there. Picking out just four seemed like a small enough but substantial enough start. The forum as a whole is not moderate-able in a fashion many would like to see. Four sub-forums can be.

Putting politics there was a chance to keep a thread about politics from drowning in trump threads. All I was thinking of was the polarity thing and indicating that that trump threads were litely moderated.

I’m all about understanding perceptions. I have to see them first.

You’re right about the antiques. Starting with me.

“See you on the Funway” is a line from The Firesign Theatre’s I Think We Are All Bozos On This Bus. Long ago, it came to mean, ‘with luck we will meet again in this crazy world’.

Excellent, Nhoj. The forum topics are finally organized. Congratulations on getting through to the brass. I hope they continue listening to you!

Well done, Nhoj. The categories are much better organized and streamlined than before.

I wonder if some of the topics under “Most Popular Threads” could be archived or moved somewhere else, like the “Recycling Bin.” Most of those threads seem to be dead ones. Perhaps leave “What are you Drinking Now”, “The Klein Bottle”, and the “Forum Diary.” Just a thought.

I’m going to have to give some serious thought about getting a thread into the “Hall of Holy Grails.” Truly creative thinking is required for that category.

The promised update of the forum layout has been up’ed.

Most significant is the ‘What’s New’ section’s elevation to the top end of the home page. New titles intend to draw some of glut of traffic from the Hall of Politics.
