Like me, you may have noticed some of the interesting names in the New Member list at the bottom of the page.

I am keen to hear from SlotcarBob. I am sure that Topher Vonesh is a name from sci-fi. And then there is Fifi Gigantor. Sheer poetry.

So, why hasn’t the list changed in over a week? Turns out, New Member Registration is not working and nobody knew it. The Ubers have been alerted.

Everything else seems to be Bristol-fashion. Please report further issues if any.

Everything is ship shape and Bristol fashion here on this side of the Atlantic -  I can arrive and leave at will, I can get post notifications, I can even post pictures. Shame I’m so crap at posting.

British Summer Time has begun and so the next few days will be difficult for everyone because there will be ‘the time’ and ‘the real time’ which is confusing because the time is really always ‘now’. The sun doesn’t understand, the birds don’t understand, the dog doesn’t understand….its a mess. We are now hurtling at break neck speed towards the summer solstice (oh such happy memories with the Druids) and so I’ll be going to bed later and later and getting up earlier and earlier until, one morning I’ll meet myself going to bed.

The imaginative names of the new members always make me chuckle, but like the seeds in some Bible parable, so many seem to fall on stony ground and never grow into their full potential and become part of our happy community. What about a ‘friendship bench’.  My life might have turned out differently if there had been a friendship bench at my school.

Glad that everything is working out ok on the forum, mostly, I have to go - there is a pigeon outside the window looking at me funny.

The homepage time-stamp on new posts has resumed its former function of saying “two hours ago” or “27 minutes ago” and now, the friendlier “about 22 minutes ago”. About?

Me too (in default) wink
But I kinda like the old-fashioned punctuation smileys - the icons can look kind of smug.

I worry that everyone thinks I’ve turned mega serious and boring, first no pictures, then no smileys to “wink” when my comments are intentionally tongue in cheek.
I know, I know, use your words Martin…

I looked it up. Emoticons are just a funny code.

You have to believe that you can see them.

Does this mean that we’ve all lost faith in the codes?  (Maybe the date code thing caused this to happen!)

Is it like saying you don’t believe in fairies, then one dies, or you don’t believe in Christmas and you can no longer hear the bell ring!?
