TheChampion:

I think the majority (outside of biologists, intellectuals, and the like) would say that evidence based on fossil records is controversial.

Champion, you disappoint me once again. You just said, in so many words, that the fossil record is only taken seriously by those people who have devoted themselves to studying the intracacies of life.

Tchamp: your statement that the fossil record is a sham is precisely why I don’t waste my time discussing science with religious fanatics. Your arguments against the fossil record are ludicrous. All I can do is shake my head in disbelief and count to ten and remember that your type can’t help themselves. You really are just lambs.

I think Landulf nailed it when he agreed with Bill Maher that you and your brethren have a brain disorder that encourages you to believe in fantasy.

Thanks, but I’ll take reality.

I’ll bet you don’t even consider yourself a fanatic. You probably believe that your world view is as grounded as the earth beneath your feet. Do you honestly believe that your powers of persuasion will convert even one of the doomed non believers in this forum?

I doubt very much that any of the non believers who read this forum would waste even one minute of their life going into a religious website in an attempt to convert the readers over to Atheism.

So why do you and your brethen feel such a need to come over here and stir things up? What’s up with you guys? Why don’t you just be content that you are going to heaven and leave the non-believers to their own destiny? Do you get extra points with God if you bother us?

“maybe all my wonderful scientific work actually compliments intelligent design…”

The keyword is “maybe”, as every true scientist MUST acknowledge. The first word of every scientific theory is “If”. Not so with so-called christian “science”. If you trust the senses that (maybe) god gave you, and the rational brain that (maybe) god gave you, then you will give more credit to the evidence at hand than to claims made by people who lived 2000 years ago and thought the earth was flat.

“Intelligent Design” is evolution with someone at the wheel, so it is far better than Creationism. In my opinion, it is an important step towards acknowledging the plausibility of evolution by faith-based “scientists”. That being said, if you really believe in “Intelligent Design”, then you believe that the creator of the universe is guiding his greatest creation (human beings) to create weapons that will cause the destruction of his creation at the hands of his most devout followers.

Your god has a strange sense of humor.

One question for all of you? who do you want on your side? God Creator of heavan and earth? or, his fallen angel who continues to try to take over, but knows he cannot, and uses us humans against each other. I know my choice.

Your god doesn’t sound like the omnipotent superbeing we are supposed to believe he is. Apparently your god has nothing better to do than to choose sides in the petty squabbles of his professed followers. The god you speak of sounds more like a mascot that you parade around on a leash.

I would think that the creator of the universe would have an agenda of his own and would expect his true followers to take his side, regardless of their personal feelings. Not the other way around. I understand that Abraham Lincoln said something to that effect.

I have a question for you. Would you rather have all of the knowledge of humankind that existed up until and including the time of the creation of the Bible? Or would you rather have all of the knowledge we have gained since then?

[quote author=“TheChampion”]We got 33% or more of the planet that says Creationism is correct. I’ll side with them. (Even if it were less than 1/10th of 1 %, I’d still side with em, once you’ve been touched by Jesus, you’re never the same.)

OK , now I think that you are either a troll or you are crazy.

Your personal experiences do not prove creationism.

[quote author=“TheChampion”]Ok, it is through faith. (Happy now?)

let us define faith for a moment:

“Belief that does not rest on logical proof or material evidence.”

or you can take this definition

“2 a (1) : belief and trust in and loyalty to God (2) : belief in the traditional doctrines of a religion b (1) : firm belief in something for which there is no proof (2) : complete trust”

I’m sure I can dig up more definitions.

Faith does not prove creationism

TChamp - looks like someone’s got you cornered again, and your response is merely a bad and stale joke . . .  and NO - no one wants to hear about the biblical definition of faith, that definition is as irrelvant as is most of the rest of that wretched text.

By the way, have you really been touched by Jesus?  I strongly believe that touching between two males is a sin in the bible, are you sure you wouldn’t prefer a different way of putting that.  Well, you do claim to love Jesus with all your heart, don’t you TChamp? Hmmm,  you know between all the loving and touching going on here, your reunion with Christ in the afterlife is beginning to sound a lot like a heavenly Sodom and Gomorrah.  What’s with all that?

I know that evolution is true and correct for the same reason. Faith.
I also know that Charles Darwin existed and personally wrote the book.

TC, come join us and throw off the chains that bind you to the assertions of men who lived in a time of ignorance and superstition! Free yourself from your self-induced bondage! Once you have been touched by the words of Charles Darwin, you will be freed from the shackles of the flat-earth way of thinking.

It is the only way to achieve your salvation!

The alternative, science, seems to make one conclude thus far that our only purpose is to procreate and evolve. Evolve doesn’t just mean to adapt to our surroundings, but to learn as much as we can about our existence. So our purpose doesn’t focus on individual purposes, rather, a purpose as a species, or even broader, as a life form. We accumulate knowledge, pass on our genes and die, or, pass into non-existence. IS THIS SO BAD? WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS PURPOSE?

This is very well put. Our purpose in life is to ensure that our children are healthy and thrive. What higher or more worthy purpose could there be?

It so happens that this is the first “commandment” of evolution, recognized by Darwin as the strongest instinct we have and the driving force behind evolution, i.e. survival of the species.

In Darwin We Trust!

Congratulations, fencesitter.

You have apparently taken the red pill and are about to participate in the grand adventure of life.

You are perhaps beginning to understand the answer to one of mankind’s oldest questions… “What is the meaning of life?”

The answer?

To LIVE!!!

Ah, c’mon Champion.  Can’t you appreciate a little allegory?  It is all about wisdom!

As far as God is concerned, I haven’t known anyone who acquired wisdom spontaneously after merely requesting it.  Wisdom is a product of the human mind which must be developed with observation, questioning, and most of all, with evaluating the answers with an open mind.

We do have brains and thinking ability for a reason!  Without them, we would not exist.  Survival of our species would have been impossible.  I, for one, opt to extend this survival for as long as possible.  Wisdom is the necessary factor to allow this.

[quote author=“TheChampion”]I guess the question is, when is the scientific community going to stop supporting a lie? Where oh where is the integrity?!!?!!

Are conservatives (and Christians) the only ones with integrity anymore?!!??

Champ, if you speak for anyone other than yourself, you speak only for the crazy fundie Christian loonies!

If you want to continue to convince the world that you and your kind are too stupid to accept the overwhelming and objectively verifiable scientific evidence that throuroughly contradicts your simple minded worldview…...be my guest!

However, please try to have the “integrity” to leave conservatives out of your idiotic and thoroughly discredited anti-science rants.

The objectivity, consistency and “integrity” of science FAR exceeds that of ANY irrational religion…....most especially your extreme brand which is founded on nothing but ancient and inconsistent myths, lies and ignorant superstition.

You and your Christian Right bretheren are giving conservatives a bad name and we won’t take it any more!
